The precise timing will ultimately depend on the final moon sighting
The countdown to Ramadan has officially begun, with only four months remaining until the holy month of fasting.
The Emirates Astronomy Society announced that the crescent moon signaling the beginning of Jumada Al Awwal, the fifth month in the Islamic calendar that helps forecast Ramadan’s dates, will be visible on November 3, 2024.
The crescent, expected to appear shortly after sunset, plays a key role in predicting the start of Ramadan.
According to Ibrahim Al Jarwan, chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Society, Ramadan will most likely begin on March 1, 2025.
The precise timing, however, will ultimately depend on the final moon sighting, traditionally conducted by the moon-sighting committee.
