Helicopter Crash in the UAE, Search and Rescue in Progress
The registered A6-ALD helicopter was engaged in a training flight at night, with two pilots, an Egyptian and a South African, aboard.
Aerogulf’s Bell212 helicopter has been reported to be involved in a helicopter crash in the UAE, according to the Aviation Accident Investigation Sector of the UAE Civil Aviation Administration (GCAA).
The helicopter, bearing the registration mark A6-ALD, was on a night training flight with two pilots, one Egyptian and one South African on board.
The incident occurred on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at around 8:30 PM, shortly after takeoff from Al Maktoum International Airport.
In a statement by WAM, the sector disclosed that search and rescue teams have successfully recovered the wreckage of the crashed helicopter.
However, the search operation is still ongoing to locate the missing crew members. The air accident investigation team has been swiftly dispatched to the crash site to begin their inquiry into the incident.
