Dubai Motorists can ‘Park Now, Pay Later’, Dispute Fines as Parkin Launches New App

The application also integrates parking permits into device wallets, centralising all parking-related information for easy access

A new mobile app designed to enhance parking transactions in Dubai was launched by Parkin PJSC — the largest operator of paid public parking facilities in the emirate — on Monday. The app offers several features, including a ‘park now, pay later’ option and real-time parking finder.

The Parkin app — which is now available for download on iOS and Android platforms — also allows users to pay parking fines, dispute charges, and request refunds.

“The app’s clustering feature real-time parking finder, help users quickly locate available parking spaces, while its advanced search functionality enables users to easily find on-street and off-street parking options with live availability,” said Parkin in statement.

Motorists can also schedule parking in advance of arrival, adding future parking to their calendar for ease of reference.

Parkin added the “PayLater option provides flexibility for deferred payments, while the dynamic auto-renewal ensures uninterrupted service and a convenient parking fee payment experience.”

Khaleej Times first reported about the autopay and pay-later features last month.

“The Parkin app is designed with our customers in mind, offering an intuitive and efficient solution that puts user convenience at the forefront,” said Eng. Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali, CEO of Parkin, adding: “By simplifying the entire parking process and empowering users with more control over their experience, we are not only enhancing urban mobility but also directly supporting Dubai’s 2040 Urban Master Plan for a sustainable, connected city.”

How to use the app

Motorists can register in three ways: 1) By creating an account, 2) via UAE Pass or RTA (Roads and Transport Authority) account, and 3) by using the Parkin registration form.

Once logged in, customers can make payments for public parking (including multi-storey car parks) and private developer parking.

The app integrates parking permits into device wallets, centralising all parking-related information for easy access and simplified parking management

The app also offers wallet management for top-ups, vehicle management, and seasonal parking subscription services.

Convenience of autopay

According to Parkin, their latest app “provides a seamless, barrier-free experience by eliminating the need for physical tickets, payment machines, or manual transactions.

“Customers can conveniently pay for their parking using the AutoPay feature, which provides a seamless, barrier-free experience by eliminating the need for physical tickets, payment machines, or manual transactions.”

The automatic number-plate recognition (ANPR) technology automatically detects a vehicle upon entry and exit, linking the plate number to the user’s registered payment method for automatic fee deduction.

This feature is available at Parkin-operated multi-storey car parks and Pakin partners like Majid Al Futtaim which operates mega malls such as Mall of the Emirates and Deira City Centre.

“Customers can access detailed information about available amenities and conveniently reserve parking spaces or extend their tickets through the app, enhancing their overall parking experience,” Parkin noted.

Future app updates

Parkin said there are plans to include in the app other services such as EV (electric vehicle) charging to allow customers to pay the EV charging tariff and parking fee in a single transaction using the digital wallet.

Khaleej Times also reported earlier that Parkin is planning on offering at select parking locations car washing, mobile or on-the-go refuelling, engine oil change, tyre checks, battery inspections, and other essential vehicle maintenance services.

Dubai’s parking operations were established in 1995 under the Dubai Municipality, before becoming part of the RTA in 2005. In December 2023, the creation of Parkin Company PJSC was announced and it was listed on the Dubai Financial Market in March last year. Parkin’s customers successfully conducted around 95 million parking transactions in the first nine months of 2024.
