Sheikh Zayed Road Fire: Building Evacuated and Emergency Services Respond to Major Dubai SZR Incident

Within minutes, emergency vehicles were seen rushing to the location
A fire broke out in a building on Sheikh Zayed Road in the early hours of Monday. Thick, black smoke could be seen billowing from the building located close to the first interchange. Within minutes, emergency vehicles were seen rushing to the location.
“I was just on my morning walk at around 8am when I saw the thick plumes of smoke coming out of the building,” said one eyewitness. “At first, I thought it was from a construction site adjacent to the building, but soon, I could see the flames coming from the building itself.”
The eyewitness added that people from the building seem to have been evacuated and many of them were seen standing on the pavement.
The cause and location of the fire is still not clear.
Hours after the incident, smoke could be seen still emanating from the building while at least three fire engines could be seen on site. The building’s sides were covered in black soot and a metal canopy roof outside the building was seen to have suffered from damages.
