PSL 2026 Final: Peshawar Zalmi Clinch Title as Aaron Hardie Stars in Five-Wicket Win Over Hyderabad Kingsmen

The Pakistan Super League 2026 (PSL) final delivered a dramatic finish in Lahore, with Peshawar Zalmi holding their nerve to defeat Hyderabad Kingsmen by five wickets and lift their second PSL title.
Chasing a modest target, Zalmi reached 130 for 5, sealing victory with authority after a performance defined by resilience and depth. Aaron Hardie emerged as the standout performer, producing a match-winning all-round display—taking four wickets before anchoring the chase with an unbeaten 56.

Hyderabad Kingsmen, appearing in their debut PSL final, posted 129 after being put under sustained pressure. Saim Ayubprovided resistance with a well-crafted 54, but regular breakthroughs ensured the innings never fully gathered momentum.
The chase, however, was far from straightforward. Early drama unfolded when Mohammad Ali struck with the key dismissal of Babar Azam for a duck, briefly tilting the momentum. Zalmi found themselves under pressure, but a composed partnership between Hardie and Abdul Samad, who added 48, steadied the innings and shifted control back in their favour.

The final underlined Zalmi’s depth—when their top order faltered, the middle order stepped up. Hardie’s innings was measured yet decisive, ensuring the chase never slipped beyond reach.
For Babar Azam, the result carries added significance. While he did not contribute with the bat in the final, his leadership across the tournament proved instrumental, guiding Zalmi through a competitive season to the title. It also marks his first T20 title as captain, a milestone in an already accomplished career.
The 2026 edition of the PSL, expanded to eight teams, showcased both emerging franchises and established contenders. Hyderabad Kingsmen’s journey to the final—after a difficult start to the season—stood out as one of the tournament’s defining narratives, even as they fell short in the final hurdle.
Played at a packed Gaddafi Stadium, the final reflected the league’s growing stature, with strong fan turnout and competitive cricket reinforcing the PSL’s position as a key T20 tournament on the global calendar.
