Urban Foods, a strategic partnership between Meraas and Dubai Holding, is expanding the footprint of its famous Géant brand with the opening of a full-fledged hypermarket at the Al Khawaneej Walk – Last Exit this morning.
According to CEO Mark Anthony Lack, this new opening marks the 11th opening and first hypermarket in the city and fits into the brand’s robust expansion strategy of targeting up and coming residential and commercial communities across the city.
“The success of food truck park Last Exit coupled with the rapid growth and development we have seen in the Al Khawaneej area including the opening of a world-class mall made our decision to open in this new and exciting neighborhood that much easier. Known globally as the grocer designed for urban living, Géant is certain to be well-received by the discerning residents who live and work in this area,” said Lack.
He added that this opening is especially significant as it is the first post-Covid Géant hypermarket to open in the UAE and has been specifically designed to incorporate all the necessary safety factors and function with due safe distancing protocols. The staff has also been specially trained to ensure that the shopping experience is the safest and securest possible.
Géant is synonymous with quality and range and promises its customer base the best from around the world. With the accent on freshness and top of the range produce, the new hypermarket will boast special health and organic aisles and one of the city’s largest collections of world foods.
The Géant ethos, best expressed in the slogan Food to go, Food for now and Food for later, is reflected in the various sections housed under one roof including a comprehensive grab and go section, butchery and seafood market and a French-style bakery. In addition to the food sections, there are special areas designated for fashionwear, shoes, electronics, sporting goods, household items, household accessories, health and beauty. The hypermarket will also offer home delivery via InstaShop and Geant’s highly reliable Your store to Your door service.
Lack expressed his satisfaction with the state of the art facility calling it both exciting and innovative.
“We have gone deep into the need of the hour while retaining our standards and understanding the priorities of the comeback. People want to shop unafraid and comfortably and this specific architecture allows for the browse factor which has disappeared in recent months. Dubai is forward-thinking and we follow suit. While being contemporary and welcoming, we also factor in the real situation and that challenge has been to make it Covid-free in as scientific a fashion as possible.”
One of the exceptional aspects is the rigorous training given to the staff. According to Lack, this was given precedence. “We literally put them through a regimen while ensuring that their friendly and helpful nature that exemplifies the Géant experience was totally retained,” he said.
“We wanted to make this 11th branch exceptional and raise the bar effectively for the industry. By making it Covid-resistant so to speak we have again established our credentials as the hypermarket that cares for its customers and will walk several aisles further than the rest.
