UAE President to go on Historic Visit to Washington Biden to Discuss Gaza Sudan in Meeting
The two leaders are also set to discuss responsible artificial intelligence development
US President Joe Biden will welcome UAE President Sheikh Mohamed on Monday, September 23, for talks on Gaza and Sudan, as well as artificial intelligence (AI) development and other matters, official statements said.
The visit will be the first ever in Washington by a UAE president. Sheikh Mohamed will also meet separately with Vice-President Kamala Harris, who is running to succeed Biden, the White House said.

Biden and Harris “will discuss with President Mohamed, obviously, the crisis in Gaza, the UAE’s essential role in addressing the humanitarian crisis there, and the crisis in Sudan,” National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby told reporters on Wednesday.
On Sudan, “we all must increase efforts to open routes for humanitarian assistance and ultimately to secure a ceasefire,” Kirby said.
A report on the UAE’s state news agency Wam confirmed Sheikh Mohamed’s upcoming US visit and meeting with top officials. Talks, it added, would build on bilateral relations that span more than 50 years.
The UAE and US leaders will also discuss ways to boost partnerships across sectors, from economy and trade to technology, artificial intelligence, space, and renewable energy.
Sheikh Mohamed and Biden are also expected to exchange views on all regional and international issues and developments of common interest, Wam said.
