BREAKING: Saudi Aramco Shuts Down Ras Tanura, One of the World’s Largest Refineries, Following Targeted Drone Attack

Saudi Aramco has officially suspended operations at its massive Ras Tanura oil refinery following a drone strike early Monday morning. The facility, which is one of the world’s largest and most critical energy hubs, was shut down as a “precautionary measure” according to industry sources.
Reports indicate that the strike, involving a long-range drone, caused a small fire at the complex. While emergency teams were able to bring the blaze under control quickly with no casualties reported, the decision to halt operations was made to ensure the safety of the site and its personnel.
The attack comes during a period of heightened regional volatility. With tensions rising across the Gulf, the UAE and other neighboring states have been on high alert. Earlier today, authorities in the UAE announced that the Abu Dhabi and Dubai stock markets would close for the first two days of the week as a stabilizing measure in response to the broader regional situation.
The shutdown of Ras Tanura, which handles roughly 550,000 barrels per day, sent shockwaves through global energy markets. Brent crude prices spiked by nearly 9%, surging toward the $80-per-barrel mark as traders reacted to the potential for a prolonged supply disruption.
While Saudi officials state the situation is currently “under control,” the closure of such a vital artery in the global oil supply chain remains a major concern for energy security in the GCC. Analysts suggest that if the shutdown extends beyond a few days, it could lead to further volatility in fuel prices and logistics across the Middle East.
