Runway Model Mohra Tantawy Crowned Miss Universe Egypt 2023
Mohra Tantawy will be the official delegate representing Egypt in the 72nd Edition of the Miss Universe pageant
Dubai, UAE. 26 September 2023 – 21-year old Egyptian runway model from Cairo, Mohra Tantawy, is named this year’s Miss Universe Egypt.
After a series of activities organized by the Miss Universe Egypt organization led by Dubai-based Yugen Group of Companies shot in Cairo and live streamed globally at the official Miss Universe YouTube channel, Mohra Tantawy hailed on top of the competition selected by esteemed selection committee including Mai Omar – Egyptian Superstar, Asian Blockbuster Actress – Arci Muñoz, Miss Universe Philippines 2022 – Celeste Cortesi, Troy Reinhart, Vice President – Community and Ambassador Development, Afaf Meky – Smile Train Dubai and Middle East Manager, Dr. Jonas Apostol – Celebrity Dental Doctor, James Rumohr – Co-founder and Chief Community Officer of KUMU, Genevieve Yap – CEO of Align Business Corp. from the makers of Great Lengths iColor Plus and Argan Beauty, Hanan Alelwany – Founder and CEO of Pearlant, Sabrina Co – Founder of ATIN Perfume, Ahmed El-Nekhaily – CEO of DTD Plus, Sameera Shah – Pharmaceutical Heiress and Philanthropist, and hosted by Evlin Khalifa – Miss Universe Bahrain 2022.
The candidates were scored based on four segments of the competition including (1) Personal Interview (2) Swimwear Round powered by Hadia Ghaleb Brand (3) Evening Gown Round powered by iColor and ArganBeauty and (4) The Final Question.
Tantawy stole the hearts of the judges and the fans with her charismatic beauty, authentic communication skills and a passionate heart towards her advocacies. During the final Q&A segment, Tantawy was asked: “What do you think is the biggest reason why poverty still exists in many countries in the world?” Her winning answer captured the hearts of the jury “I believe l, the main reason why poverty still exists in many countries is the lack of resources such as education or the lack of economic opportunities and if I was to be Miss Universe Egypt, I would work with both local and international organization to create micro-funding environment and to empower these people that are stuck in the unfortunate circumstance of poverty and just empower them to break out of the cycle.”

Tantawy will be competing at the 72nd annual Miss Universe pageant on November 18, 2023 in El Salvador.
