Israel and Lebanon Agree to ‘Reconvene Political, Security Tracks’

According to the US State Department, Israel and Lebanon have agreed to reconvene political and security tracks in the week of June 22. The two countries hope to reach a “comprehensive agreement.”

US reiterated its ongoing support for both governments to exercise their sovereignty, the statement read. Buildings on discussions at Pentagon on May 29, the two delegations have discussed a security framework, the US State Department added.


Lebanese armed forces to take exclusive control in ‘pilot zones’

Both sides agreed, with the “guidance of US” to advance the creation of pilot zones where Lebanese armed forces will take exclusive control of territory, with all non-state actors excluded, according to the US State Department.


Israel, Lebanon agree to ceasefire

Israel and Lebanon agreed to a ceasefire as ‘result of US-led negotiations’, the State Department said.

The two countries said they “have no hostile intent towards one another” and committed to continuing direct negotiations, the US State Department said.
