IPL 2026: Lucknow Super Giants Stun Kolkata Knight Riders by 3 Wickets in Last-Ball Thriller

Lucknow Super Giants pulled off one of the most dramatic wins of IPL 2026, beating Kolkata Knight Riders by three wickets on the final ball of their match at Eden Gardens on April 9. Chasing 182, Lucknow got over the line in a thriller that swung repeatedly before Mukul Choudhary’s late assault sealed the result.

The chase belonged to Mukul Choudhary, who smashed an unbeaten 54 off 27 balls, including seven sixes, after Lucknow had slipped into trouble at 104 for 5. He then stitched together an unbeaten 54-run stand with Avesh Khan for the eighth wicket, turning a match that looked lost into one of the standout finishes of the season. Ayush Badoni also kept Lucknow in the contest with a half-century before the late collapse gave Choudhary the stage.

Earlier, Kolkata Knight Riders posted 181 for 4 after recovering strongly in the final overs. Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi rebuilt the innings with an 84-run partnership after Finn Allen fell early, while Cameron Green and Rovman Powell provided the late push. Powell remained unbeaten on 39 off 24 balls, and Green finished 32 not out off 24 as Kolkata added 66 runs in the last five overs to put up what looked like a competitive total.

Lucknow had started brightly through Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh before Vaibhav Arora triggered a collapse that appeared to hand Kolkata control. But the final over flipped the story again. With 14 needed, Choudhary struck two sixes, and with one required off the last ball, Lucknow scrambled through after a missed direct-hit chance to complete a famous win. The result lifted Lucknow Super Giants to fifth on the table, while Kolkata Knight Riders were left still searching for their first victory of the campaign.
