Rajasthan Royals made a commanding start to their IPL 2026 campaign, bowling out Chennai Super Kings for 127 before racing to victory in just 12.1 overs in Guwahati.
Rajasthan Royals stormed to an eight-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings in the third match of IPL 2026, chasing down 128 with ease after wrapping up the target at 128 for 2 in only 12.1 overs. Chennai had earlier been dismissed for 127, handing Rajasthan a one-sided result in their opening game of the season.
The chase was lit up by 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who smashed 52 off just 17 balls and brought up a stunning half-century in only 15 deliveries. Yashasvi Jaiswal added 38 not out as Rajasthan tore through the target, putting Chennai’s bowlers under pressure from the outset.

Earlier, Chennai Super Kings never recovered from a poor start after slumping to 41 for 4 in the powerplay. Jamie Overton top-scored with 43, but Rajasthan’s attack kept the innings under control. Nandre Burger returned 2 for 26 and was named Player of the Match, while Jofra Archer and Ravindra Jadeja also picked up two wickets each.
The result gives Rajasthan Royals early momentum and sends a strong message in the opening phase of IPL 2026. For Chennai Super Kings, the defeat leaves immediate questions around batting stability after failing to build any meaningful partnerships in a match they never truly controlled.
