The UAE Winter Sports Federation and Ski Dubai proudly announce the continuation of the International Ski and Snowboard Competitions held at Ski Dubai in Mall of the Emirates. Today marks the conclusion of the International Para Snowboard Championship as part of the Para Snowsport initiative in cultivating Para talents globally.
This event aligns with the United Arab Emirates Winter Sports Federation and Ski Dubai’s commitment to supporting and developing talents amongst People of Determination, as part of the UAE Centennial 2071 Vision, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.
This year’s championship hosted 16 athletes from 12 countries, all of whom recently underwent an intensive training camp led by qualified international experts to enhance their skills and equip them with exceptional techniques for the Para Snowboarding Championship races.
The United Arab Emirates first hosted the Para ski and snowboard competitions at Ski Dubai in 2018, featuring a selection of elite athletes from around the world. Snow sports for People of Determination have seen notable growth in the UAE, with numerous local and international events and championships organised to encourage their participation, foster their skills, and provide an inclusive and supportive environment.
It is also worth noting that the UAE FIS Ski and Snowboarding Competitions began its fourth edition on 15 October. This year’s event features 45 competitors from 14 European and Gulf countries, including eight members of the UAE National Team. This is part of the annual events organised by the UAE Winter Sports Federation and Ski Dubai which serve as a preparatory step for athletes participating in the 2025 Asian Games in China and the World Championships throughout the winter season 2024/2025.
Since the UAE Winter Sports Federation was ratified as a member of the International Ski Federation, Ski Dubai has hosted over 40 FIS-sanctioned events across five snow sport disciplines, paving the way for the UAE’s participation in World Cups, World Championships, and Winter Olympic Games.
