BMW Middle East will be showcasing ‘Urban Hives’ by Nathalie Harb at the 2023 edition of Dubai Design Week taking place until Sunday November 12th 2023 at Dubai Design District.
Commissioned by automotive sustainability pioneer BMW, Urban Hives is a multifaceted initiative that showcases how nature can be infused into urban landscapes to transform public hard-surface areas, such as parking lots, into thriving community gardens. Developed with circularity at the forefront, solar energy systems have been integrated into Urban Hives to render it self-sufficient, alongside the ability to charge electric vehicles.
As a part of Dubai Design Week, Urban Hives will be activated as a vibrant hub for discussions and workshops centered around the theme of sustainability and mobility. Curated by Joanne Hayek for the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation, the event provides an open-air platform to discuss and shape a future that reconciles nature with human development.
The Urban Hives collaboration is a manifestation of BMW’s holistic approach to address the planet’s environmental issues, showcasing its commitment to search for innovative solutions, adopt new perspectives and rethink conventional approaches.
